THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED

Due to revisions to the University Winter Quarter calendar and concerns over the rapid spread of COVID-19 and the Omicron variant, this event has been postponed in the interest of public safety.

Free for all attendees

The New York-based Ekmeles and Sandbox Percussion join forces to premiere six new works for chamber choir and percussion quartet by UChicago graduate student composers.  Written especially for these ensembles, these works are the culmination of Ekmeles and Sandbox Percussion’s three-day residency at UChicago, during which these works will be rehearsed extensively, and all involved have the opportunity to deeply explore the intersection of text, song, and percussion writing. Ekmeles and Sandbox Percussion will perform works by Baldwin Giang, Maria Kaoutzani, Paul Novak, Yuting Tan, Kari Watson, and Justin Weiss.

All event attendees aged 12+ who are attending public Chicago Center for Contemporary Composition events must provide proof of vaccination. By exception, visitors who are unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons or due to a sincerely-held religious belief may provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the event, or proof of a positive test 14-90 days prior to the event with affirmation that you are not experiencing any symptoms.

All attendees aged 2+ must wear a face-covering over the nose and mouth at all times.
