Boston-based violinist Theo Ramsey enjoys a varied career as a chamber musician, orchestral player, and teacher. They perform as a violinist and violist with Ensemble Dal Niente and serve on the group's artistic programming committee. Recent concert highlights include leading the New World Symphony as concertmaster at Carnegie Hall, playing chamber music at the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s “Noon to Midnight” festival, and performing at Carnegie Hall, Tanglewood, and Ravinia with Brooklyn-based orchestral collective The Knights. In 2022, Theo joined the first violin section of the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra and began teaching at the All Newton Music School in Newton, MA.
Much of Theo's work outside the concert hall centers on guiding people as they explore their creativity and tell stories through the arts. Theo has led a weekly, small-group music program at a juvenile justice organization, participated in collaborative songwriting projects with community groups, and worked extensively with public school students on musical storytelling and other projects.
Since 2021, Theo has coordinated the Trans Safe Space Program at American Trans Resource Hub, recruiting businesses around the US to stand up for trans rights. They spend as much time as possible wandering in the woods, thinking about the banjo, and feeding bell peppers to their elderly pup Latifah.
Theo will perform with the Grossman Ensemble on Friday, March 7, 2025.
