
Inés Thiebaut (b. 1979, Madrid, Spain) is a composer and Associate Professor of Music at California State University East Bay. Her music is influenced by Greek philosophy, postmodernism, new complexity, and early analog synthesis.
Her chamber music has been performed in the U.S. by ensembles such as MIVOS Quartet, TRANSIT New Music, Ensemble MISE-EN, and Cadillac Moon Ensemble. Recent works include a chamber piano concerto for NOVA Chamber Music Series, a piano and electronics piece for Jason Hardink’s Concord/Revisited project, and a piano trio with electronics for the Greek Galan Trio. Internationally, her music has been performed in Mexico, Spain, Greece and Portugal by artists including Miquel Bernat (ICTUS Ensemble), Iracema de Andrade, and Tambuco Percussion Ensemble.
She holds a Ph.D. in composition from the CUNY Graduate Center, where her dissertation on Mario Davidovsky’s Quartettos was partially published in Form and Process in Music, 1300– 2014. She also earned degrees from Berklee College of Music and Queens College. Before CSUEB, she held teaching positions at Queens College (CUNY), Montclair State University, and the University of Utah.
